Executive Team Development

Our goal is to support executive teams to come together in a way that moves them towards successful business transformation, while addressing the realities of what the organization needs from them today. We are committed to uncovering the candid conversations and practical skill- based learning required for authentic team development in the context of the real opportunities and challenges the team is facing.

Our Approach

Interviews & Assessments

We begin by taking stock of where the team is now through 1:1 interviews with each leader, and the completion of 360 assessments in support of determining the key areas of focus for leaders individually, and as a team.

Development Sessions

A series of sessions are designed to support the team’s development, and do the work required to present as a strong, aligned team and move the organization forward in a meaningful way.

1:1 Executive Coaching

In support of their leadership development, we will provide 1:1 coaching between each team session, to continue to build self-awareness and move individual leadership goals forward.

How We Define Success for an Executive Team:

  • How the executive team models leadership serves as the example teams throughout the organization will follow. A strong executive team embodies the values of the organization and shows others they are aligned toward inspiring goals and projects that move the business forward in a meaningful way. Demonstrating what is important to the organization through their behaviour is a key indicator of a successful executive team and organizational integrity.

  • A strong executive team is aligned around the strategic direction of the organization, agreeing on priority goals and plans to meet those outcomes. Over time, a strong team will spend increased time, effort and focus on defining and working together on shared objectives. Strategic alignment is strongly grounded in the team’s in-depth understanding of the business landscape and supported by their commitment to a clear vision.

  • A new executive team’s success requires a focus on results to move people and projects forward without hesitation or distraction. Distinguishing between activity and results is key to making this happen. Successful teams are committed to strong decision-making processes.

  • A team with a high level of trust supports each of its members in becoming highly effective in their role, ensuring each team member has a clear path forward. High-trust gives team members the confidence to share ideas, take calculated risks, and share information, effectively breaking down department silos and increasing innovation, effective decision making, and collaboration on shared goals.

  • Executive team members need to challenge each other respectfully to bring forward more creative leadership and better decisions. This includes encouraging the ideological conflict that sometimes comes from seeking input from one another. Individual team members need to remain willing to consider opposing viewpoints for the sake of the team and the organization as a whole.

  • A key indicator that a new team is successful is when they are operating in support of (not in competition with, or isolation from) one another and creating an environment where each person understands their specialized responsibilities but are united and have each other’s backs. This unity allows the team to come together quickly to work through problems, break-through barriers, find solutions and move forward.
