A Day in the Life of our Program Designer

A ViRTUS program designer creates customized solutions and designs leadership development programs that address the business needs of our clients. The designer creates and oversees the development of engaging and effective content, that meet the key learning objectives and is in alignment with ViRTUS values and principles.


Areas of Responsibility

Program Design: Leadership and Team Development Focus

  • Lead the design of multi-cohort, multi-level custom leadership development programs
  • Curate client-specific learning roadmaps from our library of core content
  • Customize core content to create sessions that consider clients’ current business context
  • Collaborate with facilitators to design team development experiences for senior leadership and executive teams
  • Manage client relationships, including expectations and scope
  • Connect with stakeholders as needed to ensure you have what you need to create effective, relevant learning experiences
  • Conduct page-flips to walk clients through session content
  • Create supporting program materials that enhance the participant experience, including slide decks, worksheets, job aids and resource lists
  • Understand each touchpoint in the participant experience, how they connect, and the potential impact one of those things can have on another
  • Make informed decisions and strong recommendations to clients and team members about what will work best in any content or experience-related conversations

Blended Learning

  • Blended learning content design, including self-directed online modules and live session development
  • Script writing for short video, toolkit creation, and learning checkpoints development
  • Relationship management for vendors and partner with contractors for e-learning and video production
  • LMS (Thinkific) content and analytics management

Core Content Elevation

  • Collaborate with the content team to consistently elevate our core content
  • Regularly audit learning content to ensure it meets or exceeds our equity and inclusion guidelines
  • Test and iterate to improve session design based on feedback
  • Integrate technology and new methodologies into current offerings

Strategic Contribution

  • Ask questions and challenge the status quo
  • Contribute to decisions regarding the strategic direction of the organization
  • Contribute to decisions and practices regarding our social and environmental impact
  • Contribute to decisions impacting the ViRTUS brand and reputation in the market
  • Contribute to decisions impacting organizational structure

Qualifications

Get in touch with us if you:
  • Have 5+ years of instructional design experience
  • Have 3+ years in Leadership Development program design
  • Have 2+ years of client-facing relationship management with senior leadership teams (director level and above)
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office, familiarity with Adobe Acrobat and resourcefulness in navigating new technologies
  • Have an understanding of and experience applying adult learning principles to design interactive, creative sessions with a focus on experiential learning
  • Are obsessed with (or just super interested in) current trends in leadership development
  • Are great at putting yourself in someone else’s shoes to understand how learners will experience your design
  • Can see links between random things and can explain to others how seemingly unrelated things connect
  • You have experience in blended and online learning delivery, and a solid grasp on applicable theory
  • In-depth knowledge of LMS configuration, analytics, and reporting
  • May have never been a facilitator (or maybe you have!) but really get how to integrate different facilitation tools into your design to suit the group and the facilitator
  • Love finding creative ways to do things differently
  • Have a keen attention to detail
  • Could have done an even better job at writing this job description
Nice-to-haves:
  • Understanding of Organizational Development practices and frameworks
  • Certifications in or an understanding of assessments (e.g., EQ-i 2.0, LCP 360, DISC, MBTI)
  • Education in adult learning, instructional systems design, educational technology, human performance technology, or leadership and training

*We are primarily remote, with some in-person team and client commitments throughout the year. Travel for work may be required. Applicants must live in, and be legally able to work in Canada. Laptop, phone, and other remote tools will be provided. Core working hours are Monday through Friday, Pacific Time Zone, with some flexibility of start/end times.
