Business Development Lead


The mission of the Business Development Lead is to lead the growth of ViRTUS across North America through handling all sales activities from prospect through to renewal, working in partnership with our CEO and Business Development Coordinator.


Areas of Responsibility

Sales Activities

  • Set initial meetings with prospects & scope for client fit
  • Create and manage needs assessment to understand of outcomes and measures of success
  • Handle post-meeting follow-ups:
  • Set the next meeting date with the client
  • Create proposals, pricing models, and visual project timeline
  • Send supporting document including content descriptions
  • Lead the response team to respond to RFP’s
  • Lead the hand-off process with Project Team
  • Build and maintain server files, templates, and final versions of proposals
  • Keep the Pipedrive CRM up-to-date
  • Prepare and lead weekly business development meetings
  • Update team weekly and monthly on overall pipeline progress
  • Provide reporting of sales activities and results
  • Monthly budget review w/ Controller & Program Manager
  • Constantly look for areas to improve the systems and approaches to client development

  • Client Relationship Management (and renewal)

  • Hand-off closed deals to the Project Manager, supporting through kick-off as needed
  • Partner with the Program Manager to manage scope change and support client outcomes
  • Partner with the Program Manager to manage key client relationships
  • Work with the Program Manager and Team on timing for scheduling renewal meetings
  • Work with Project Manager and Team to review feedback and executive one-pager with to present at renewal meeting

  • Marketing/Networking

  • Lead the Business Development Coordinator on a strategy to build the pipeline and generate leads
  • Support social media channels including LinkedIn, Facebook, Reddit, Pinterest, Twitter and Instagram to develop new leads in collaboration with Business Development Coordinator
  • Create a follow-up approach for each lead who is a longer-term client prospect
  • Craft the monthly Linkedin sales campaign message
  • In collaboration with the Business Development Coordinator ensure the website copy accurate to our sales approach
  • Attend networking events where we know our prospects are

  • Your Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years of proven sales selling six-figure, complex deals to HR and C-Suite, in professional services space with overachievement versus quota
  • A bachelor’s degree, or equivalent
  • Digitally fluent (CRM, Word, Excel, Slack, Power Point, GSuite)
  • Passionate about learning and leadership development
  • Strong quantitative skills and an analytical, data-driven mindset
  • Exceptional passion for ideating, testing, analyzing, marketing and iterating
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A strong team player
  • Have the right balance of creativity and analytics with the ability to thrive in a fast moving and dynamic environment
